10 Jul A fresh approach to corporate networking

Here at Surf Snowdonia we like to like to encourage our corporate visitors to consider a fresh approach to the way they do business… and that’s exactly what the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce did when they brought their regular roundtable networking event to Surf Snowdonia earlier this month.

We welcomed over 50 of the Chamber’s guests with some delicious snacks and drinks in our lagoon-side bar on what was a corker of a summer’s day (they’re not actually that uncommon here in North Wales you know!).

The Chamber’s unique ‘Round the Table’ approach to networking means that everybody attending the event gets a fantastic networking opportunity and the ability to promote themselves to a large number of people within a short time frame. It’s a very friendly and inclusive way to do business – something we wholeheartedly applaud!

Following the networking session, around half of the guests enjoyed a beginner’s lesson delivered by our expert coaches, and those who didn’t fancy getting wet were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour to see our facilities and hear about how we transformed a derelict aluminium factory into a world-first inland surf facility.

Dan Phoenix from Clicky Media in Chester, was one of the Chamber’s guests. He said: “It was a great opportunity to network in a fantastic setting. Meeting local businesses from around our region, whilst learning more about the forward-thinking business made it really worthwhile coming. Hearing from Louise McWatt at Surf Snowdonia speak about how the venue first came about, reusing the land from a former aluminium plant and building the first artificial surf lagoon was really interesting also.”

Speaking after the event, Debbie Bryce, Operational Director at the Chamber said “Unique to any event we have hosted before we have tried to offer our members something different and add a twist to the usual networking, we hoped to provide a really fun event and the feedback we have received supports that our members really enjoyed it! I would like to thank each and every person who attended, but also stretch my thanks to the fantastic staff at Surf Snowdonia who excelled themselves in the effort and care they took to help host the event, we hope to work with you again very soon!”.
